Helicases and NTP-driven nucleic acid translocases together are a large class of enzymes that perform essential functions in all living organisms. Helicases unwind or otherwise remodel nucleic acids, while translocases move along DNA or RNA without unwinding double helices, but both helicases and translocases share important structural and mechanistic features. Most, if not all aspects of DNA and RNA metabolism involve helicases and translocases, and it is becoming increasingly clear that many of these enzymes also play important roles in numerous disease states and in the aging process.
In this meeting we will hear about the newest insights from structural and functional studies of helicases and translocases. The meeting is also intended to help delineate connections between these enzymes and disease states and the aging process. As in previous helicase conferences, we expect a vivid exchange of information among a diverse group of scientists studying all aspects of helicases and translocases. The meeting schedule includes informative talks, poster sessions and ample time for informal discussion.

Steamboat Springs, Colorado is located in the Yampa Valley in the Rocky Mountains, approximately 160 miles northwest from Denver. Steamboat Springs is surrounded by National Forest and Wilderness areas. The meeting venue, the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort & Spa is situated at the base of the ski area (elevation: 6900 feet above sea level). The highest point of Steamboat is Mt. Werner (elev. 10,568 ft).
